St. Kitts wins 11th consecutive Leeward Islands Championships

St Kitts won the Leeward Islands Youth Athletics Championships yesterday by winning 30 gold medals in their 11th successive overall victory.

Having dominated the first day of the competition, the Kittitian team wasted no time continuing their momentum in yesterday?s morning session.

Nevis performed well on the final day of the championships and was able to edge out Antigua & Barbuda for third place after trailing them on the first day. Nevis? final medal count stood at five Gold, six Silver and eight Bronze.

Anguilla finished in fifth place overall with two Gold, 10 Silver and 13 Bronze, and the US Virgin Islands finished out the order with one Silver medal for the weekend.

The championship title is St. Kitts? 11th consecutive and 12th overall since the inception of the Leeward Islands Championships in 1993.
