Nevis to Host Film Festival

Ahmed is Amir, President and CEO of NIF (Nevis International First Feature Film Festival), in collaboration with CCF (Community Cohesion Foundation, a not for profit organization), the Nevis Foundation of Cultural and Community Development, and the Ministry of Culture, is seeking to bring film and movie enthusiasts to Nevis to aid in carving new avenues of enterprise for the island.
The Festival is scheduled May 3 - May 8. Joachim Von Vietingham, a premier film director from Germany, has volunteered his services as advisor to the project and will be chief judge at the festival.
Already a commitment has been had to create a film made on Nevis about Nevis. The script will be written by Mr. Graham Lord and directed by Mr. Joachim Von Vietingham.
Mr. Ahmed admits that funds for the Festival are going to take ingenuity to raise; an agreement in principle for funding has been obtained from a European project and the venues that have been selected to host the festival have been cooperative.
Interest in NIF has been piqued in the international filming community and calls are coming in from as far away as California, China and Germany. These are countries that have bought into the idea that Nevis as a location will make for interesting footage. Films entered into the NIF to be viewed and evaluated are from: Belize, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Curacao, Haiti, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
This is an exciting new venture for our community. Read more at PamDemocrat.org.
