For the third time in three years, singing Angie proved to be the unstoppable force at the Green Valley Senior Calypso Competition, as once again she was adjudged winner from a field of 11 competitors. Performing at Maynard?s Park, Singing Angie retained her crown with a rendition titled 'One Song', which highlighted many issues that the society currently faces.
Brabread captured the First Runner-up position singing ?You Got To Go?, which gave details about his mishap last year and why he was thrown out of the competition. The Second Runner-up was Godfrey,followed by in third place, Jungle Lion.
Babu, who was the only calypsonian to induce some laughter and excitement among the crowd, was recalled onstage and given EC$100 for his entertaining performance. The donation was made by Pele Gumbs, a businessman from Cayon. The Junior Calypso Competition which was scheduled for the night before was also held last night. In his explanation for the postponement, organizer Mark O?Loughlin said he did not feel the young calypsonians were ready, as some of them had received their songs very late.
However, Mighty Midget, the youngest of the eight competitors, dethroned King Scribbles with a song entitled ?Morals Gone?.King Scribbles was adjudged Second Runner-up singing ?Gangsta?, while Mighty Ricky took the First Runner-up position with ?Nation Under Threat?.
A wonderful evening was enjoyed by all concerned and the event, which was hosted by Damian ?Cuttoe? Liburd and co-hosted by Altonia Springer and 2010 Queen Ivanka James, ended shortly after 1:00 a.m.
