St Kitts & Nevis Earn Top Travel Awards

St Kitts & Nevis have been named among the top 10 travel destinations for 2011 by AOL Travel, placing #4. This is the 2nd travel recognition for the country, after British Airways in December also ranked it among its top growth destinations.

As reported by the St Kitts-Nevis Observer, "'Earning this distinction from two top travel entities is a clear indication that our strategy for the development of St. Kitts? destination experience is working,' said Senator Ricky Skerritt, Minister of Tourism & International Transport. 'We have been making significant strides forward in terms of new developments while ensuring that our natural assets, rich heritage and authentic local culture remain intact and protected. This welcome publicity from AOL Travel and British Airways is only the beginning of the rewards that our efforts will bring to the island and people of St. Kitts & Nevis.'?

British Airways was named St Kitts' Tourism Partner of the Year at the annual tourism awards in October, 2010.

AOL Travel mentioned the islands' lush rainforests, history, beach bars, diving, hiking, plantation inns and value lodging opportunities.
